Today, after my fatherly duties were discharged ;), I took myself along to Town Hall to bear witness to a refugee support rally.

I tend to love the atmosphere in these street rallies :P

#1 - The Crowd Assembles

#2 - So too, the media

#4 - Senator Sarah Hanson Young (Green)

#5 - Media Watching

And, finally.

This woman was a classic, "OOPPS!" moment.
#7 - She runs yelling out of the coffee shop shouting, "This country can't afford them refos; sent them back to their own country!"

THEN,
#8 - "Oh, Sh#t!" as she realised I had been snapping away - perhaps presuming I was media ;)

Great series and you have captured the atmosphere well.

Not making a political comment here but I love #7 where you have captured an asian looking guy in the background. Perfect!

Crowd shots both for and against, cops, media and a pollie, you covered all bases, well done.

""This country can't afford them refos; sent them back to their own country!"

Her delivery may well have been a bit crude, but she makes a valid point.

This is a very emotive subject and I doubt there would ever be consensus of agreement between the opposing sides. An excellent catch on the woman with the big mouth Scotty, you can just about hear the hamster’s running around the wheel in her head while she tries to figure out just exactly who you are and what your motive in photographing her is hahaha

Just one question though, why is it that the ones with the big mouths who run around waving their arms like this always look like they are the real essence of the true Australian Bogan? I mean fair dinkum, a check coat and pink turtle neck skivvy, such fashion sense, she'll never make the cover of No Idea hahaha

Thanks for the comments about the pics guys.

Yes, it was a classic moment when she realised she had been photographed.
