I just went to my local library, and asked about a specific photography book I want to read. I was going to buy it, but it is only available 2nd hand and costs USD$1500,00.

They did not have it (duh!) but I filled in an Inter Library Loan Request and now she said that they will approach every library in the country, and when they find it they will get it in for me. Apparently it will not be a fast process, but still!

They also suggested that I try our Reference Library... so I looked at the State Library of Western Australia and they have a copy there! I can't remove it from the building, but I can go and see it any time I like!

It's a good reminder Hokey, that a lot of information is available from the local library. Thanks

I must admit I don't use the library much; but it's a great place to test before you buy. They also have lots of mags available; most have Australian Photography to read at the library.

That'd be right. HCB pretty well coined that term, didn't he? "The decisive moment".

Actually, he stole it from another book... fully acknowledging his source when he did so. Since then he has owned it though, lets face it!
