Ok, so as I mentioned in my other thread, I haven't been around for a while.
In the last few months in particular I have been pretty busy with organising my ride, as the few I have on FB know. This has meant not a lot of opportunity for photos. The ones I have taken I have worked on and feel that I am slowly going places. Certainly have a long way to go compared to a lot of people on here. Hopefully after my ride is finished I can take some time out.
Anyway, enough dribble. Here is my attempt at the Opera House from earlier on in the year.
Cheers and thanks for looking (be gentle with my first post in a long time :p)
Matt.
I find it quite interesting Matt. When I saw the heading I thought oh well, it'll be another boring portrait of the opera house, but was pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't. I like the composition, it reminds me of 3 boats lined up on their end. I also like the way you have processed it, if you had just posted it in the original full colour it would not have had the same impact. Not trying to insult you, but it would look great as a large hanging in a foyer. I'd be willing to bet it would generate quite a lot of interest.
Welcome back Matt, i really like this image.
I agree with Lloyd's comments ,it is good to see a different perspective of the opera house, and this one is very appealling. The composition is very striking and you have done well with the processing too.
Thanks for posting this ... :)

Very cool shot. I like the composition you have chosen.

Lloyd, not insulting at all. There was nothing in the sky to help keep it interesting in full colour. I took a little bit of processing to be happy with this.
I also have another perspective I may put up at a later date but from all accounts from others this is the pick of the 2.
Thank you Julie. I didn't want to get over near the bridge and look back and try and compose the same shot as a lot of other people and then try and process it in a different way. It was midday and the light was harsh so it would not of come off.
Khaotic - thank you for looking and the comment, appreciate it.

Hey Matt, this is probably the most interest take on the opera house interm of impact and compostion. For my take, i like to see more shadows in the pic, definitely evoke more dramatic. As for the sky, definitely more processing, perharp darken the corner or introduce a gradient to show some tone since its one of the two element in this picture...It a great photo, and can have more potential for impact.
