This is Seven Sisters Falls Generating Station, on the Winnipeg River, just outside the Whiteshell Provincial Park in Manitoba, Canada. There's something about this place that keeps me going back every year.

These images are from 2008 and 2009 respectively, and were both reprocessed today.

Hi Federico, very nice B&W pictures of the moody cloud formations and dynamic movement of the water rapids. it really works well, and the B&W has a nice feel to it.
My Fav is the Second picture. Great composition and lots of movement and stormy-like conditions. kinda looks like a B&W HDR picture or a good play with levels and saturation/vibrancy in the image. Great tones captured in both :)

Would like to know your Post-processing done on the second image, thanks?

Thanks for sharing

Cheers

The second has a violent and dangerous feel about it that's exciting. Looks as thought the water is about to overflow the foreground rocks and possibly create havoc and the sky looks ominous and threatening.

Lots of noise in this image Federico, I reckon it would improve with a run through some noise reduction software and maybe a bit more contrast to punch some black into those beautiful clouds, make them look really stormy and wild. Just a thought.:)

I use Silver Efex Pro for B&W processing, which is different than the standard Photoshop stuff. I just played with what Nik Software calls the structure slider, and then of course with the brightness and contrast. Then I played with the colour sensitivity sliders until I found the tones I liked. Then I added a bit of grain, which leads us to...

The noise is grain I added in post :) I agree 100% about increasing the contrast a bit to blacken the clouds some more.

Thanks everybody for your comments :)

fabulous images Federico....my grandparents had a place in River Hills ( about 7 miles away) and we used to make
trips to the falls all the time. Great picnic spot there as I recall

I'll try to remember this place when I visit the dam next summer.

Thanks Julie and Tim :)
