Another Sigma 70-200 2.8 portrait. Questionable bokeh ?

This is definitely my favourite portrait lens these days, but on this one, i notice the bokeh isn't particularly nice.

I have had that feeling for a little while with this lens, but this seems to confirm it. Not very "creamy"

What do you think ?

Cookster, mind posting a 100% crop of the blur?? Its a 9 blade aperture, you would expect it to be smooth.

Did you do a sharpen on this? Did you sharpen just your son or the background too?

Ok...here it is.

At 100% crop it doesn't seem to look bad. Maybe it was just when compressed and the shape of the foliage ? But this isn't the first time I've thought that the bokeh wasn't that nice on this lens though.

I never do sharpening because I still shoot jpeg and use Picasa. Been arguing with the Mr's about buying a new computer though ;-) All i've done is crop, add some contrast and saturation

I agree it looks a little dodgy, most likely the foliage from the tree as specified. Dont be too stressed. Great photos btw. Seems you are getting into the portraits a little more!

portraits are my passion...but i just struggle with them. Especially when it comes to lighting. Finding willing models makes it hard !

Find some on model mayhem and get serious mate. You are producing the goods atm all you need to do is expand that experience!
