Day 3 of ownership now (well, yesterday when i took the pics was), and starting to have a look at the different shoot modes.

Had a crack at shutter priority, and what better way then to get the dogs playing ball! :bounce:

Some turned out blurry, but i uploaded the vast majority of pics anyway. Had such a blast again, and was good practice zooming in/out while they were running and also seeing how continuous shooting works.

The set can be found here http://www.flickr.com/photos/jpw007/sets/72157626000932427/

But some of my favourites (love the one where the male dog 'Zac' steals the ball while the female one 'Zoe' is busy posing for the camera lol);

I know with a bit of cropping and a bit more attention to the surroundings i could have some really good pics, but for now am just enjoying learning this camera :D

keep it up JOshua...you have willing subjects there to practice on. It will come as second
nature to you soon as you begin to understand your camera some more.

Hi mate,

Great to see how passionate you are so far. Keep trying everything and practising.

I'd recommend this site to learn all about the basics (like shutter speed, aperture etc) http://www.michaelthementor.com/lessons.cfm?lessonID=8

Get your bother and the dogs to a park, get him to throw a ball as far as he can, then with you standing away and off to the side, put the shutter between 1/100-1/200 and pan them. You can get wicked results, lots of trial and error though.

Nice to see you trying different things Josh, just a tip when photographing dogs, do a run round with the pooper scooper first, not only does it make the pics look better without the little black mounds on the ground, but when looking down the viewfinder it is easy to tread on them, squish!!!!!!believe me i have done it ... :)

Cheers guys/girls.

I thought about the pooper scooper after i'd already taken them, which is a damn pitty as its in some of my more favourite shots! Hoping i might be able to edit them out or something :)

Easy to edit the poo out Josh if you have photoshop? So lovely to see you excited about the camera and shooting. Everyone has given great tips and advice - look forward to seeing more!
