I imagine the drought has something to do with this.

Great title :)

Good comp/viewpoint, and the tempting clouds add interest to the sky towards which the thirsty trees stretch. (The lush green leaves on the right distract a tad and contradict the drought reference possibly? but they also suggest rebirth - so just ignore that comment)

Cheers

Lets hope they don't reach the top of the trees.
Nice perspective.

Thanks Alan.
I sat down to see if any birds turned up and just happened to look up and though it was an interesting perspective.

Thanks Scott. a couple of the cracks extend up about 15 or 16 meters so I think they will probably reach the top eventually.

I had never seen it before this year either Rob. These trees are in an area that is exposed to some fairly strong winds, maybe a lack of water has caused them to dry out a bit and then when the wind blows they are not as flexible as normal. There seems to be quite a bit of it happening in that area.
