  • ID help please...

Sitting out the front after another 12 hour shift I noticed these two walking down the footpath towards the park,I`ve only seen these running across the road near the Golf Course and the closest I can find in my Bird book is a Curlew, but it`s not a good match.

Baby Bush Stone Curlew. The red eyes are unusual though. I have a few photos of these but never with the red eyes.

Definitely a curlew. Maybe young ones start with red eyes which change as they mature.

Thanks for the ID,my book showed the adults only. The red eye is probably due to me using fill flash as it was getting late and they were in shadow,I`ll process a couple more with R/E reduction and see how they look.

I was assured by a bird expert (Trevor's Birding) that they don't have red eyes at any stage and he said most probably flash gave the red eye look. BTW, great shots of the curlews.
