  • Grevilla Gorge

Posted this a few years back but thought I'd give it a second run for newer members.

I was travelling the Gibb River road and purely on a whim I took a turn off that was signposted simply as Carnley Station, campers welcome.

Well, at the end of a 70km track I find this. No crocs and when I was there, no people. Bliss. This gorge runs for a few kilometres and is quite stunning in places. Tough terrain for walking, way too hard for me so I didn't get to see all that much but this particular pool burnt its way into my memory banks.

In typical Kimberley fashion this gorge floods in the wet and is totally inaccessible for months at a time but when it's open...wow.

This is the next pool down and there are many more...

I'll dig out the details Todd. From memory it's about 300km up the Gibb River road from Derby, turn left. Can't miss the signpost. Not many folks go there. Great drive in btw, easy, but lots of little creek beds to keep you honest. It's a stunning gorge.
