  • Two more images from the Gibson Desert.

Surely Australia's most magnificent desert, I find it without equal.

Both images were captured from the top of the Sir Fredericks Range, getting there is quite a journey but the rewards made the effort worthwhile.

To give you an idea of scale this image was captured at 200mm...

Ok, maybe three images. This is the ridge track to the top of the range. May not look like much but it's low range first gear all the way, incredibly steep in places and I think my fingerprints are still embedded on the steering wheel. Never heard so many groans and grunts from ye olde Hilux and might have made a few strange noises myself on the way up.

All have impact, but I like #3 the best. The weathered rocks get you in, then the eyes meander along the track into the distance......
    Cheers, Brad.

I can see why you struggles with keeping it to two images.. each one is so vastly (pun intended) different.
I'd like to call your first image "desert dreaming". Soft and larger than life.
The second and thrid images makes me pose geographical questions. Such interesting ancient landscapes.

Haven't been there, not done that.

          Beautiful images Mick.

Love the rolling depth in #2 but #3 is just stunning - wonderful composition

#3 for me too Mick. The rocky foreground, leading to the the track, which leads off into the vast nothingness. I would happily wall mount that and just stare all day.

              Thanks for the comments folks.

#3 is now on the print list. Photo paper I ordered a while back arrived today so I'm ready to rock in the print department.

Cheers Bill. Certainly can get lonely in inland Australia but it's an expensive area to visit and there are no tour guides or hotels

I can see why you added the third one. I really like that.

I would love to get to places like that myself.

It is #3 for me as well. I think #2 has more impact with the top cropped.
Doesn't look like a place you would want the Hilux to stop groaning.
Better a full bottle in front of me
                        than a full frontal lobotomy.

I like them all Mick. Colours are fabulous and you've really shown how vast this country is.
