  • After the Fire

On the way home passed Coolah and saw the results of the recent bush fires. With the old dry grass burned away it sure transformed the place. It was raining which softened the harshness of the black trees in the middle. Sigma 18-250 on Canon 60DClick image for larger version

I like the simplicity of #1. It tell the story without the complexity of the 2nd.

Me too! I was drawn to the "saturated" colours and was just looking for something to create a composition. The second picture tends to wreck that suggested original theme a bit. I might go and have a look when the weather improves only just an hour away. Never know your luck.

#1 for me too hams. You've captured the starkness of the area really well and it's good to see some green grass. Fires can sometimes have a marvelous affect on the environment. Well done and it's close to a wall hanger.

I will give that a go. If I get a result I will add it. Spent a few hours on trying to make a competition entry the other day, but deleted the results.

            After the fire.
Added brightness and contrast to tree only. It was a dreary rainy day.

That's cool Hans - that tree strikes a great contrasting pose! Well done you. I'd put that down as one of your best. Deserving of an Isac Images Wall Hanger Award. (noticed I fixed my keyboard).

One day I will have enough pictures to furnish a room. Thanks Isac. Also glad you got that keyboard fixed. That could be embarrassing.

I did respond earlier Hans but the post seems to have vanished? Thanks for having a go.

I like the B&W, but think I prefer the colour.

But the framing really lifts the B&W

The light is lovely in the first images. The hill layers are lovely in the second image. but I think the composition works best in the first image.
The contrast between the green and the black is lost.. and therefore some of the story in the BW version in my opinion.

Thank you Jo comments appreciated. I find the effects different. There seems to be an element of loneliness in the b&w. The tree looks separate from the rest of the picture. Where the tree in the coloured version feels as is if it belongs in the scene a bit more.
