Different! I find it a bit hard to look at.
Better a full bottle in front of me

That dandelion does look a bit like 3D I guess. I think it needs just a tad cropped off the RHS though.

Was trying to apply the rule of thirds which people say is never shown in my shots.

Rule of Thirds is an excellent starting point for framing the subject but aesthetically the centre of the subject is usually on the 1/3rd line on the vertical, horizontal OR both as opposed to noughts and crosses which would place the subject inside the 1/3rd box. You know what I mean, but for those that don't ....

I've also got a couple of handy actions you may like to try eaglem. One is for creating the 1/3rd guides for any sized image and the other is just to clear the guides. On my website in the "Fun Stuff" action set.

rule of thirds not in this one either. as presented it feels too tight in the frame particularly on the left, but top and bottom also. I like the colour interaction too.
as presented you could crop at least 1/3 off the right and not affect the shot at all imho. but you need more room around the flower, again imho.

Thanks for the advice, I doo tend to crop tightly and should allow more space. As you can see.

For what it's worth, I agree with the others but for me what spoils it is having the flower facing out of the frame instead of into the negative space. This is what I mean.

Good observation Greg! Now the negative space becomes the positive space
