    G'day Hans

I'm not sure whether you're asking us to have a go at an edit - or just making suggestions

I've done the former ... hope fiddling is okay with you

I've done ... clone out 2 dead trees/sticks, levels [each RGB channel], crop out some sky

    Any good?

Yes OK with whatever. I don't get too precious as long as nobody makes money out of my pictures without giving me my share , but I am not sure what I was hoping for. Would have liked to see the mist a bit more obvious. That is what made me pull up in the first place. I think there is a picture here but I haven't got it.

I think there might be several pictures here - one cropped from the top to above the base of the trees and the other cropped from the bottom to the base of the reeds, as well as the full image. My concern is the blown area of water in the centre. If you can recover detail here it certainly has potential, otherwise maybe not. Would be great if you could bring out the mist.

I thought square might work. I like the two twigs which echo the uprights of the structure in the water, the reeds and the tree trunks

Not really enough detail left in that middle section to do much with it and bring out the mist.

However here's a couple of my takes on it.

I like that Alan. It has a Van Gogh feeling about it.

If you, (or I ), were painters, maybe we could capture, on canvas, something that we felt at the time - something which sometimes eludes us 'in camera'.

Maybe the mist was slowly swirling and rising...

It looks a little blown where the water is so to me it just needed a bit of water added. The sky looked a tad dark so I lightened it a bit. Gave the colours a bit of a boost too.

Interesting. It is not sky but a slope full of trees in morning shade. I think I am trying the impossible. Adding another picture taken at the time.

This is as converted from raw. May form a better picture with some cropping and manipulations.

I think the last image works well, the vertical tree looks well out of the rest of the composition though. think it would look better cloned out. would probably stop the eye running out of the shot too

              Thanks Stephen.
I will probably get back to this some time when I feel a bit more competent post editing.

Very subtle changes. Bumped the reds and greens, removed the tree.

Thanks HansE. By bolstering the reds and greens it did help to lift the fog - did I just say that?
