    The Great Wall

Not only was it smoggy, it was very cloudy so it made Landscape shots almost impossible.

It was quite a thrill to be there though.

Strike me pink Scott!! That is a lot of people, it is just amazing! A shame about the smog and people, but I doubt it would ever be any other way there. Geez, it must have been a mission and a half just getting on it with that lot. You have done a terrific job of showing it how it really looks. We see all the glossy brochures and they have the wall with nobody on it and you think how nice it would be to be able to stroll along it in virtual solitude and take in the view and the history it offers - NOT hahaha 6, 7, 8 & 9 are my favourites, they make it look quite stunning and I love the way you have composed them.

Terrific shots Scott, even with the "difficulties". Must have been an awesome experience. (And love the Chinglish "Enterance" sign)

Check out the google map version.
    http://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=bad...dius=0.17&z=18

There are a lot of buses, and if you look further afield in the map(esp south) there are many, many more.

Thanks for the comments guys. Appreciate it.
It was pretty surreal, being there. I just kept thinking how the hell did they build this 2000 years ago.

Great photos Scott. I had never thought to check google maps and look at The Great Wall but wow, many buses. Mum and Eric visited TGW last year I think it was. Don't recall seeing that many ppl in their photos but there were still enough.

I bet it was such a buzz and can only imagine how awestruck you were.

awesome mate. Very different view with all of the people. I guess my thoughts of a gentle stroll along the wall need to be reconsidered

I check everything out in Google maps these days. I love my maps even the old paper ones. You'll always find me studying one before I go anywhere.
It was summer holidays, so that did increase the number of people there. It is also the busiest section of the wall. Other areas aren't so crowded.

You can do the gentle stroll. You just need more time to walk to the quieter sections of the wall away from the main throng.

That's amazing, Scott, I was stunned by the amount of people on the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland, But that had nothing on your Greatr Wall photos.

    Thanks Vaughan.
Yes, I can't even imagine the amount of people they had building it over all those years.
An incredible structure for it's time. And built across steep mountains!!

It was actually Smog. Every city was like this, just this point we were up in the mountains, so we were closer too it.
The worst part about the crouds, was that it was hot, so when we had to squeeze through the throng, it was sticky and smelly.
I was OK for fresh air as I am 6 feet tall. my wife, however, was not so lucky.

Yes, I was quite surprised when I saw pics on the net of Badaling covered in Snow.
That would be pretty but a bit unpleasant!

Holy crap! Peak hour rush on the great wall. Origionally I was expecting a picture of a small truck. Great set of images. Certainly tell a story.
