    A question about lens compatibility

I am embarrassed lol but I'm not hiding.

OK many years ago I had a Fujica SLR and I still have the following lenses ...........
Tamron 28mm wide angle (with an adaptor to suit Fujica camera)
Tamron 80-210mm zoom lens (with the adaptor as above)
A 2x teleconverter to suit the zoom lens and adaptor
and a Fujica flash which I am going to try out on my Nikon.

My question is .......... Could I still use these lenses (if there are appropriate adaptors) with my Nikon D90, is it worthwhile given that I have 3 lenses anyway?
    18-55mm, 55-200mm, 18-100mm

They are in good nick but I am thinking I don't really need them now, actually I think I have answered my own dumb question lol.

    Don't!
At least until you have done some serious research. There have been plenty of cases of people damaging DSLR's by using old flashes that were not compatible. Just because it fits doesn't mean that it will work.

As to the lenses I can't help but realistically they probably aren't as good optically as even a kit lens these days so the effort to make them work may not prove worthwhile anyway.

Don't use that flash on your Nikon, you run the risk fritzing your D90 electronics. The only time that flash designed for film cameras should be used with a DSLR is when the flash is used off-camera. This is because "old" flashes designed for film cameras used high voltages across the contact points, a film camera typically just sent a simple signal to the flash contacts to close, this completed the flash units circuit and "Pop", the flash fired. Simple, and no way for the high voltage to reach into the cameras circuitry.

DSLR's on the other hand, use a sequence of low voltage communications to communicate with the speedlight, and low voltage circuitry being exposed to a high voltage device is recipe for bad karmic outcomes. And although you old flash might not ruin your D90, it probably won't sync properly anyway, and at best could only be used in manual mode. All I can say is there a cheap Chinese Speedlights that won't put your camera at risk and will work reliably with the D90, toss the old one or swear only to use it wirelessly, but don't mount it on the hotshoe unless your risk tolerance is higher than average.

I doubt your other lenses will work, or will even fit onto the D90 either, sorry. But even if they did, they will not perform as well as your Nikkors anyway. Today's "kit lenses" are pretty darn good really, despite the bad press they often get on forums like this.

Bottomline, your old gear is not worth the risk/effort.
