Unusual way for trees to grow

I was amazed at how these trees appear to be growing out the side of another tree which had fallen over at some stage. I've never seen this sort of thing before.

    Cheers Richard !

Me either - although I have seen an eucalypt which had blown down eventually have its branches right themselves and continue to grown into a "new trunk" maybe that's what's happened here, I can see what appears to be the root ball on the right..... Nice pic, love that there's no understory makes for a lovely set of trunks. These look like animals have rubbed against them ....

How interesting, I've never seen trees growing like that either. What a great find.

Good observation, that is the root ball on the right, and you're probably correct on how the new trunks have developed.

seen lots of them. Plants have unbelievable ways of surviving

I have seen a tree that has fallen onto another and they have grown to be one tree.

    Interesting photo; thanks for share
The camera & lens it's just a tool to capture light and shadows.

Oooo really like the other two! If I could say that place then maybe I'd visit it!!

That'd be a really good Forum topic ............ Must see/photograph sites

    1. Wakdjofiheoafhoeihfi - New Zealand (insert pic).
    2. Blah Blah blah - Tasmania

that'd be an invaluable tool when researching potential photographic sites when you're travelling.............

I agree, something along the lines of a travel blog. We also have something similar under Wiki on this forum.

You can get a free app for smart tabs etc. called Stuck On Earth which does something similar

Here is a view from a different angle

Close up of the forest floor

Closeup of the bark of one of the trees

    Cheers Richard !
