Ok..just thought i'd post some of the party pics up from my 40th last night.
I took very few of these photos..in fact, almost none. I set my camera up for what I wanted then handed off to a mate. I had to do a bit of cropping, but overall i think they are nice captures.
Camera set to Manual. F6.3 and 1/20s. External Flash set to TTL -0.7EV. Pointed straight up and using a demb flip it to redirect some light forward. ISO200
This is the kind of look I have been trying to get and now think i've found the right combination. Would appreciate your thoughts on this.
Essentially I want to show some detail in the background, but not too much. I want it to be obvious that the venue is dark, but without having that typicall stark P&S look to it. I've tried a few settings, and think that 1/20 with -0.7 ev on TTL flash works.
