    The view from "The Rock"

View from the top of the Rockefeller Centre, affectionately know as the "Top of the Rock".

A hazy view down Manhattan. The Brooklyn Bridge can be seen just to the upper left of the golden topped New York Life Building and through the haze towards the top of the skyline you can just make out the huge spires and suspension wires of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge that connects Staten Island and Brooklyn. The tall Empire State Building dwarfs all that surrounds it.

View over Central Park. We were told that this was a clear day

Never make the same mistake twice, there are so many new ones, try a different one each day

Thanks R&C, yes, relative is probably correct, it looked better in real life though. There was quite a breeze blowing so it would have been a lot worse if it was still, but go to any major city and there are the same issues.

Thanks Scotty. Funnily enough you did not notice the air polution too much. There were many things we thought would be a lot worse about NYC. We kept being pleasantly surprised by the city, which made the stay a lot better than expected, which was great because it is not a cheap place to stay I can tell you!
