  • Stilts and Spoonbills

I love the gentleness and elegance of the stilts that populate our lake. They emanate such a sophisticated - almost regal - persona.

The Yellow Billed Spoonbil - I saw it land, have a hunt around for a snack, have a chat to a couple of Ibis and then take off to who knows where.

I like The implied motion in the second image. It has the grace you mentioned. The spoonbill interacting with its feathered friends also appeals. You seem to have plenty of water at the moment.

Cheers Hans. The water is getting less every day. I hope it doesn't go all together. Still plenty of birds for now though.

    G'day mate

Good set of pics - plenty of pleasure in looking at them all

You're very kind Phil. Birds fascinate me and I just love watching them (and photographing them of course).

The Stilt are beautiful, graceful birds and I think the first photo shows this very well. Nice set Isac. Looks to me like the spoonbill is giving the ibis a good telling off.

Thank you Alan, I agree the Stilts are charming creatures. This is the closest I've been to them so happy with the results. That spoonie really did give the Ibis a serve.

More great bird images from you Isac, I'm very envious of the variety of birds that frequent your lake.
As a side note - there was a local band back in the '70's by the name of Blackfeather that had a song on their album "At The Mountains Of Madness" titled Long Legged Lovely, a perfect caption for your Stilt images.

Thanks for looking John. We still have a good variety but the lake is drying up rapidly - so that might change soon. Blackfeather were not my bag sorry. I was a bit more conservative in my music taste.

They lost me when they came out with Boppin' The Blues, way too commercial. I was really in to Prog Rock at that time.
