    G'day all

You wouldn't get me down there. He could easily end up in with the fish.

Search and Rescue people just shake their collective heads when they see things like this. We lost our neighbour in Albany at "The Gap" and it was a horrible thing for all to see. It's still a great photo BTW.

They are trying to get people to wear life jackets. I have a brother who has been a surfy a fisheries inspector and is still a keen fisherman off the rocks in his retirement and he shudders at the thoughts of restrictions imposed by people who have little experience and knowledge. He is very much aware of the dangers and I think, he would think it a good way to go for him!
I think taking the picture was a better idea Phil.

I don't get the attraction of putting your life in danger just to catch a fish, I however saw nothing wrong with jumping out of a perfectly good airplane, so what would I know.

All a life jacket would do for the guy on the original picture is make recovery of the body possibly easier. There is no way it would do anything to save his life if he was washed off there.
BTW. They are now called personal floatation devices (PFDs) to remove the suggestion that they will in any way save a life and to encourage people not to rely on them in all circumstances.
