  • Join me on one of my morning walks

I took the camera with me on one of my morning walks. I have just restarted these after a break of a month or so. I try to do at least three each week, varying between two routes. This one is about 6.5km, gains about 130m in elevation and takes about 80 minutes return.

All with the Nikon D800 and the Nikkor 14-24 f/2.8 lens.

    1. Nearing the end of a park several blocks from home. This is about fifteen minutes into the walk

    2. Across two roads and into another park and the start of the track up the hill. This mostly follows a small creek.

    3. One of the bridges across the creek. It only runs after rain

    6. Nearing the top - a walkway across a steep slope. This is past the steepest section and is fairly flat where I can recover my breath. Return is back the same way and almost all downhill.

Thanks David. The morning sun brings out the colour and texture, but adds a bit of challenge with shadows and highlights.

Yeah, lovely place to have a stroll. Not unlike my local park/lake. Beautiful tranquil spot that you've captured well, good vibrant colours. They say walking is the best thing for us oldies.

Thanks Isac, it is supposed to be excellent exercise and the steeper section certainly gets my heart rate up.

    G'day Alan

I am most envious -- My morning walks are across / around suburbia

Thanks Phil, this is suburbia but I’m lucky to have a few nice parks within a few blocks of me.

Lovely area and shots. Much different to our location and not unlike where the Puffing Billy train travels. Although in Victoria in summer these locations can turn into a fiery nightmare.

Thanks Taboo. This is a rather narrow forest area with houses and units on each side. The photos make it look more remote than it actually is.

Keep up the walks Alan. The pictures are a bonus. You will see something a bit different on every walk.

You're right Hans, same here at our lake on my daily walk. Today a great variety and quantity of ducks on the lake. Some I haven't seen since 2021.
