  • Pink Moon

    The Pink Moon looking large in the southern sky amidst the fast moving cloud produced an eerie feel. 5 bracketed shots -2 stops to + 2 stops centered at -1 exposure.

ID:	478152 To set up your camera to get good exposure for a single moon shot, try the Lunar 11 Rule (sometimes called the LOONEY-11 rule). These settings though, are jst a starting point and you will need to adjust the shutter speed and/or ISO depending on the brightness of the moon.

    G'day Mate

    Well done - funny how all around the planet the moon is a common shooting target

    I also have some suggestions for 'moon shooting' ... see below
    Phil

    Moon Photography ... how to go about it

    1. on a night with a half-moon or 3/4 moon or full-moon, set out a comfortable chair, arrange some nibbles and a drink, then arrange yourself comfortably upon your comfortable chair;
    2. have some nibbles and a sip of your drink;
    3. whatever lens you have, zoom it out to maximum zoom [your 70-300mm lens to camera is a good start, although a 600mm or longer will give a larger image];
    4. set camera to “S” / “Tv” shutter priority mode;
    5. set camera to about 1/250sec to 1/500sec with ISO at ISO-400;
    6. take a photo and look at result;
    7. if result is a bit bright, drop ISO from 400 to 200 – if a bit dark, increase ISO from 400 to 800;
    8. repeat step 2
    9. go to step 6
    10. continue until all nibbles have been eaten and drink all consumed.
    See – all quite simple!
