Thanks Phil. It works well with a big crop.

It uses the Panny in-camera digital zoom incl a tiny amount of factory pre-set sharpening. The above images are direct 1000px wide crops from the (however wide) originals were ... meaning that the surfers were still very small in the ex-camera image

Reminds me of ballet. I particularly like the flying picture in the last image.

I thought you had upgraded to a DSLR camera that had a LONG lens! Good action shots Phil, I love a good surfy shot.

Excellent action Phil. They look pretty good quality, particularly if they are straight crops without any resizing.

Surfers out for a day's enjoyment

    G'day all

We had parked overnight on a rocky promontory to enjoy the scenery at sunset and sunrise - and I found next morning a group of surfers in the waters of the next bay, about 1/2-kilometre away from me. Undeterred out came the long lens! .... and overall I am quite chuffed at the detail that the lens & small sensor combined is displaying

The images below are 1000px wide crops directly from the ex-camera image with a small amount of pp - Levels / Curves to bring the whites back a bit

    1)-

    exif- Panny FZ-2500; 1/1300s x F4,5; ISO-125; lens at 720mm FFequiv

2)- this fella got plenty of rides and skillfully zig-zagged between others

    exif- Panny FZ-2500; 1/1000s x F4,5; ISO-125; lens at 720mm FFequiv

    3)-

    exif- Panny FZ-2500; 1/1000s x F4,5; ISO-160; lens at 720mm FFequiv

    4)- Whoops

    exif- Panny FZ-2500; 1/1300s x F4,5; ISO-125; lens at 720mm FFequiv

    5)- Too late

    exif- Panny FZ-2500; 1/1300s x F4,5; ISO-125; lens at 720mm FFequiv

    As always, feedback welcome
