right, I would have thought smaller than f4. shows what little I know, perhaps cropped a bit then? or am I just a dumbass?

The smallest aperture on all those photo was f4. They were al shot with a Nikon 70-200 f2.8. I used to stay around f4 so more people were in focus as the photos were for the benefit of the players and they don't like to see themselves blurry ion the background.

you captured some good action there.
no exif visible to determine aperture used, but generally sport comes out best if you can shoot wide open, and even better with a fast lens.
the images are good and sharp but lots of background in them.

Some nice action shots there, but I think the second is the pick of them. Up close action with both faces and the ball visible, and their expressions show the intensity of the moment.
