  • Hi everyone

    Hi everyone, I'm Joe.
I'm from Central Qld and am taking a serious leap into photography, mainly landscape and wildlife are my passion, but I'll try and incorporate all sorts of photography into my learning of the finer art all around photography.

I have setup an instagram account of some of my favourite photos I've taken around CQ, but most were taken on my phone so they are not the best as far as focus points etc. Joe_explores_cq

My camera gear includes a 1300D and a 5D mk4 with a couple of lenses for each. I plan on getting a decent telephoto lens for the 5D, something like a 150-600 I had in mind.

    G'day Joey

Firstly ... WELCOME ABOARD MATE ... and join the APh express to better imagery

While most of us use traditional cameras, we have a few fone users here too ... some use both, and it's all a matter of "what's convenient" at the time
Personally, I never use a fone as I am a serious zooom lens user, and fones just do not get near my vision of the world out there
As to your wish for longer lenses, we have several here who can give you some very good suggestions

    Hope this helps
    Phil

Thanks Phil, I was looking at the sigma 150-600 sport 2nd hand through a camera shop, as that's within budget if I use afterpay lol no point buying brand new if I don't have to when I'm not a professional photographer, some tele lens price make you cry when you look at them

Welcome to the Forum Joe, it's good to see some new blood here.
I have a 7D MKII and a R6. When I purchased my R6 I sold all my lenses for the 7D EXCEPT for the Siggy 150 - 600, it is a great lens for wildlife and sport. I have the C lens, but if you can afford it get the S(port) version. I also recommend getting the Sigma docking station (https://www.sigma-global.com/en/acce...usb-dock-ud01/) it will allow you yo customise your lens to suit your photography needs.

      Welcome Joey (or Joe?)

That Sigma Sport lens has a pretty good reputation but it is quite heave at almost 3kg.

As John suggested get the dock and be prepared to adjust the lens focus and also the camera focus. Focus is critical on long lenses and DSLR's are prone having focus off just enough to be noiceable on long lenses. It's not difficult to do but a bit fiddly and time-consuming.

Thanks Isac, I would really appreciate someone taking me under their wing to show me editing in Affinity photo2, this is the side of things I need to spend time developing; playing with the cameras is just time spent experimenting and getting out there.
