Covid restrictions, the weather and some personal issues have prevented me from venturing out with the camera over the past few weeks, so I apologise for not contributing much lately.
The weather today was so nice that i took a wander around the lake and while there wasn't much in the way of birdlife I did manage to get a few images to post.

    Nice shots John.

    1. Good to see a bit of action from the swan. A lower angle would have made it even better, but often not possible. Most spots I go to are impossible to get low because of intervening vegetation or steep banks.

    2. Excellent composition and pose on the coot and I like the smooth water

    3. The darter looks fine to me but the size allowed here hides many problems.

It's been very quiet here for the last week or so. Perhaps it's just the lockdowns and people travelling. I'm locked down again for at least a week - likely more.

Thanks for the kind words Alan, I'm very happy with the coot. Lockdown is having a negative effect on our lives in many different ways, stay safe mate.

All OK shots John. I'm keen to know what the exif is and lens. I'm not in a good space right now with my PC dramas and having a crappy flu to contend with and also trying to sort out server issues with Hostgator. BUT things can only get better, right? I had a few days in our southwest recently so I need to have a look a those images and see if they are worthy of posting. Cheers.

I'm surprised you're using Shutter Priority mate! I thought I was the only one using it, although I only use it for BIF with about 3000 - 4000 shutter speed. For these types of shots above (with good light), I use Manual / 1250 - 2000th/Sec / Evaluative Metering OR Spot / f:6.3 - f:8 / AUTO ISO. Just my 2Bobs worth.
I do have your number and you're a good man John, thank you.

I always use shutter priority when shooting 200mm, or longer
Any time mate, things are pretty crap for all of us at the moment.

Thanks John. I've played about with setting for the birds at the lake (not BIF) and I've found that M works best for me. I've changed Custom Controls for my Exposure Compensation adjustment to hold the SET button and turn the top wheel, so it doesn't affect the ISO, Aperture or Shutter Speed. Works a treat.
