Making the most of their commission home. Posing for a family portrait.

Had about 20 of them around the house this morning They took off when some white cocatoos arrived.

Cheers Hans. They do seem to be a bit wary when other species come along. These guys always display a bit of fear when the Twenty Eights come along and try to take over their nest - but they do fight them off.

      G'day Isac

Yeah mate ... it's one thing for an Aussie bird to chase another Aussie for a nest site ~ but over here we see those damn feral Indian Minors doing it too - chasing the corellas / galahs / others from their nests so that the miners can breed. Itz a real bugga

We're lucky here in WA, the Indian Myna (Common Myna) was introduced into Qld back in the late 1800's and hasn't ventured west (as yet). They are sometimes mistaken for Noisy Miners (different spelling), which are native honeyeaters, and endemic to eastern and south eastern Australia.
Just a bit of trivia for ya'

Thanks Alan. I think the inside of the nest box is a bit grubby by the look of them.
Working...
