Saw a pair of these at Tygum the other day but they stayed well away; so far away that it was difficult to get the camera to focus on them, but I managed to get a couple of reasonably sharp shots.

I'm not sure why I bothered as I have better images of these birds. This is 1800 x 1300 cropped from the full 7360 x 4912 frame then resized to 1200 wide for the forum.

Nice shot. The feet look almost out of place on it.

Good quality for being in the distance Alan. Very colourful bird and that BG makes it pop.

image looks good for a crop.
I like the pose on the bird too
perhaps a tad more sharpening around eye?
shows how good modern optics have come too
    good work

Thanks Stephen. It's really too small for anything but web display. The optics and autofocus systems are amazing really, and even the ten year old camera still gives good results.

I like both the bird and the contrasting background. The background is what I would have ordered if it would have been possible to do so.

Thanks Hans. I would have liked to have been able to get lower to give more blur in FG and bg but not really possible at that spot.

Alan, you have a great image.

Any chance you had your camera closer to the ground?
