  • Olive-backed Oriole

I went back to Eagleby Wetlands this morning after being chased off by wind and rain on Saturday. It started out very quiet but I managed a few shots.

This Oriole was feeding on fruit in a tree beside the path so I was able to get a number of shots. The light wasn't the best with the bird in shade and sunny sky and clouds in the background but a bit of PP mostly fixed it.

    3. I tried to get a few flight shots as it moved from place to place but I was too slow for all except this one.

What a great set of images Alan, your perseverance certainly paid off. I've given up on bird photography, for a while at least, there's not much to be seen in the area lately.

Thanks John, it didn’t seem to mind me standing there taking photos, although I didn’t get too close. Keep trying for the birds when you get the chance. It’s not easy but is rewarding when you get a decent shot.

Right time - right place is the secret to getting a half decent bird shot.

All great shots Alan. These are the types of shots we all hope to get at some stage. Perfect lighting, great poses and having the bird interested in something like the pods instead of just looking off into the distance. Well done.

Thanks Isac, sometimes you get lucky and a bird just continues what it is doing instead of flying off.
