Birds from Eagleby Wetlands

I finally made it back to Eagleby Wetlands. Lots of bird activity and I managed to get a few shots, although the light was challenging for some.

1. Male Red-backed Fairy-wren. I think this needs a bit more work - the bird was somewhat backlit and didn't hang around.


2. Female Red-backed Fairy-wren (I think)

The birds are amazing too. The Sacred Kingfisher is outstanding. Are they rare?

Thanks Mark. The Sacred Kingfisher is not rare. Not one of the really common birds but I often see them. They prey on insects and small reptiles rather than fish.

All lovely as usual Alan. The cisticola markings are quite striking. Shadow on the Kingy?

Thanks Isac. I didn’t worry about the shadow as I have better images of them and this one was a bit far away - I’m surprised it’s as sharp as it is.
