  • Attempted theft

Camped at Mt Moffatt section of Carnarvon National Park, I had these pied Butcherbirds come every meal time trying to pinch whatever they could.

There were two adults and two juveniles; these are the juveniles.

Please forgive the poor quality of this phone photo. I was cooking at the time and couldn't go to grab the camera or they would have had my meal.

They do get a bit hungry and love to pinch tucker off you. Great photos of them waiting with anticipation.

I just fired myself from cleaning my house.
I don't like my attitude and I caught myself drinking on the job.

Thanks Isac, they weren't actually waiting, but grabbing any unguarded scrap. They wouldn't move until almost touched.

Cheecky buggers. Not going to get much out of those pans though.

If you stepped back even a little they would be onto the pans and plates. They could pick up even the tiniest scraps but leave sand everywhere.

Love the expressions. The one on the left could almost be saying Come on then where's the grub,

Thanks, they were very entertaining and didn't actually take food off your plate while you were eating, like I've seen kookaburras do.
