  • Baudin's Black Cockatoo

Sadly these birds are on the national listing: Threatened species - Endangered under the Biodiversity Conservation Act.
This one (male) was at the lake high up in a gum tree with 8 others and took off as soon as Charlie and I got close. Good to have the 400mm.

I just fired myself from cleaning my house.
I don't like my attitude and I caught myself drinking on the job.

Too much land clearing or are they eating some crops??
Better a full bottle in front of me

        Hi Isac

A good image - yet again! - and I believe it's much the same with the Major Mitchell galahs as well ... they're on the decline also

Beautiful bird. Shame about it being endangered.

Cheers guys. I love these birds, only live here in WA. The clearing of land is the reason they will become extinct. I can't see any good reason why in 2025 there are endangered species in our once great country, but it's happening. I think developed areas and "no go" zones should be enforced to protect our unique flora and fauna. Is it really that hard? When you are constantly fighting greed, it is very difficult. The amount of work being done by volunteers (with very little government assistance) to protect our black cockatoos is absolutely phenomenal.
Sad about the Major Mitchell's Phil.
              I am a volunteer.
