A friend gave me a sony a6000 camera with a couple of kit lens so had a play today with the 55-210. Pelicans at the wharf seemed a good target.

First, a wide shot. I like the cranes in the background, might revisit with my 1/400 . We've had a couple of foggy mornings lately, could be a good shot there when conditions suit.

I love a good Peli shot Mick. Lots here. What do you think of the old a6000, it's been around for over a decade.

I think the camera is quite good though the menu is driving me nuts. Might lash out and buy a decent lens as the kit ones are not too flash. There's no comparison between this lens and the canon 70-200, chalk and cheese and that is obviously reflected in the price difference. My 7d mounted with17-55 and b&w polaroid filter and irreplaceable cinch strap were stolen a while back and I'm in the market for a landscape rig. The sony might do me for short term. I'd like to stick to canon ideally. Bought a second hand 7dmk2 from fleabay and am loving it.

Thanks Mick. I've never used Sony so interested to get your opinion. I have the 7Dii as well and I'm happy with it - does all I need it to do. It has the Tamron 18-400 permanently stuck to it - a nice compact and lightweight lens, and pretty sharp throughout the range.

Back luck re the theft. A real downer I would think. But every cloud has a silver lining re the Sony. Good to try another brand, but the hoard of lens always makes that costly... Nice shots the Sony...

I like to see them when they hunt fish collectively and all move as one in a circle. I have seen it in Australia and in Africa. How does behaviour like that get started and communicated. They have different markings in different parts of the world as well.
