    G'day Isac

Colours are great - any way to tone down the FG - near BG ... it's a bit bright

Like the head angle on this Isac, makes the duck much more engaging than if side on. Agree with Phil re the bright FG/BG

Thanks guys. I was just playing with the background to pop the duck. Using different filters I changed it to look like it was snow but I guess it didn't work.
I replaced it with just a Black and White BG with more contrast.

Unusual colouring for a Wood Duck Isac - perhaps it's due to bright direct sunlight. You don't normally see the broad stripes on the wings but see a fine wavy stripe pattern.

The only similar shot I could find is this one from eBird https://ebird.org/species/manduc1?siteLanguage=en_AU

Good colours and nice pose too, but I'm not convinced about the background what was wrong with the original.

Thanks for that Alan. I just thought wood duck because of the head colour and shape. I didn't even look at the body
I'll have to check with the experts to see what species it actually is. It may be a hybrid of some sort.
The grass was green so I did a selective colour just with the duck. I liked how the grass looked a bit like snow, so I left it mono toned.

It's definitely a wood duck although it does look different. Perhaps it just has it wings positioned differently. The colours are more intense but that is probably due to the bright sunlight.

100% a male Wood Duck. I was informed that those feathers are usually visible while it's preening and when they are "fluffed up".
            I'll post the original.

I see why you changed the background. It does tend to blend in, surprisingly .

and it highlights the duck better imho, besides being a bit arty

Beautiful duck. The background in the original image is preferred IMO.

Thanks David. I like the original too but I was trying out a bit of creativity for fun to really separate the BG to make the bird pop - but it's quite OK not to like the concept. I do a lot of this stuff to push the boundaries and challenge the grey matter

Somewhere in between ? Maybe a lower viewpoint would have helped - but getting up again is always a problem

Thanks Alan. The last time I remember "getting down" was not a pleasant experience, so I no longer practice it. There's probably lots that can be done to create something different and it's all subjective. I just love to play with this stuff to see what I can come up with that's a bit out of left field. Thanks for commenting, it's appreciated.
