  • More birds from Sundown National Park

Well I stuffed up on these by accidentally shooting in jpeg, which combined with the noise reduction from high ISO resulting from the rather poor light with a teleconverter (in most) gave very mushy images. The first three were at a high shutter speed as I had been after flight shots when these popped up. Once the detail is gone you can't get it back.

    4. Superb Fairywren. Looks like it's standing on tiptoe. These and the Red-browed finches seem to turn up everywhere

You're a bit harsh on yourself Alan. Most would give their you know whats for shots like these, me included. They are all lovely but if you want more detail and less noise, try Topaz Photo AI or Topaz DeNoise AI

Thanks Isac, I’m happy with the shots except for loss of detail. The AI software may be able to create some detail, but I think the JPEG noise reduction has smoothed away some of the feather detail and this cannot be undone.. With raw you can selectively apply noise reduction, and the AI noise reduction on raw files does a great job without destroying the original.

      Thanks for that Alan.

Better than what most would be able to obtain.
Better a full bottle in front of me
    than a full frontal lobotomy.

Thanks Hans. The last two are fine. I’m happy to have the others except for the loss of feather detail.

    Technology - grr. Been there

Too many buttons. But lovely images all the same. As Greg suggests, AI etc could probably remove the noise...

Thanks Alan. The problem is not noise but the detail that was removed along with the noise.

I'd be ecstatic to get these. Nice shots.

Thanks David. They look ok at this size but at larger sizes they do look rather mushy.
Working...
