I love a good egret shot Alan. I don't remember seeing a pair of them here so that's a bit cool.
Lovely POV and great pose for the brown honeyeater. Beautiful bokeh and detail.

Thanks Isac. The egrets look very stately but I really have too many shots of them just standing somewhere - I need to try ,more for some action with them.

The honeyeater just flew down beside me as I was leaving and perched quite close so I'm happy with the detail in that one.

Cheers mate. Egrets are usually poised in the shallow water looking for a quick snack, so they don't offer up much action. I do have some images of them doing their very strange dance though. They are very clever when "fishing", they hold out their wings to block the light so their prey can't see them coming.

I have a couple of them lunging for a fish and jumping around so there are some possibilities.

Wonderful shots Alan. Really like the Honeyeater shot.

The honey eater such a great detail in the head and that pointy beak could do some damage with that no doubt, Shame the depth of field wasn't large enough to cover the focus a little further, The Egret in #2 looks like it has something working its way to its stomach. Like flowers hard not to get a picture you like from a bird.

Thanks Hans. The Brown Honeyeaters are quite small but those beaks are sharp, and look a bit large for their body. When a bird is close and facing you it's very difficult to get everything in focus with a 500mm lens, even at f/8. This was at f/6.3. I'm happy enough to get the head in focus.

The Great Egrets have a kink in their neck and I think it is that, rather than something it has swallowed.
