  • Melaleuca tree on the Fitzroy river.

Just a happy snap really, but thought it was a wonderful tree.

The river is a couple of kilometres wide here as I'm at the beginning of the delta region and you can see the flood level marks about half way up the trunk. With a big wet season there's a chance the entire tree could be under water for a couple of months and the river can be ten or more kilometres wide.

Can't get out here too often, need to wait till the end of the dry season and then get here during neap tides. This is my 'secret' section of the river, rare to see anyone else out this way.

Like all the exposed roots with that one reaching out almost hand like.

Amazing that some plant species seem to be able to survive such high water levels as well as having roots exposed .... thanks for sharing 'your secret spot' Mick

Your a lucky man Mick, you have such amazing variety and choice of subjects all around you.I`d tone the highlights down a touch and crop a tad off the bottom, but it`s a nice pic as is.

Good call on the processing Kev.

Yeah there's lots of choice around here but there's also a lot of travel required, I roam far and wide to get some of these shots. Lot's of empty space around here lol.
