It maybe summer but it's still freezing!
Better a full bottle in front of me
    than a full frontal lobotomy.

    Very dramatic and moody Hans

How long did you spend down there?

We did a cruise on the Holland America line last new year. I had been told the Chilean Fjords was the most beautiful place where they had been. We lucked out with poor weather in Chile but the captain picked up speed to give us some great weather in the Antarctic. Got a swag of great pictures despite all the ice. Fantastic cruise was not sold on cruising until I went on this one.
Will try the New Zealand Fjords this new year.

Cruising is not on my bucket list ..... but could make the exception to visit Antartica.
New Zealand is on the list ..... pending retirement. Look forward to seeing your photos after your visit.

I was of the same mind after he first cruise on a Norwegian ship. I named it the pirate ship. We have found the Holland American and the Viking cruises much more to our liking. Not so much bingo or casinos and better library or informational events, The fact that you get moved to grat new locations without packing and unpacking whilst getting first class food sure has something going for it.

Those patterns are fantastic Hans. I think the loss of skyline spoils it a bit with the snow blending with the sky, however I considered a crop would really bring out the best in the image without losing that icy shoreline. My opinion only.

I liked them as well when I saw them.

I would have been on deck all day if it hadn't been so cold.

Love all the patterns and the mood of the first shot - I prefer it as originally posted over the cropped version.

Luck you to get an opportunity like that Hans. I do like them all. The first one is a perfect example of using layers to separate the sky from the snowy ridges. I did have a play but the image is too small to be able to get good separation.

There's sometimes is no difference and "White out" is a common occurrence. It was interesting watching clouds form leeward of mountains as well. I will post an example. I suppose with using layers you can make the separation whether it is there or not.

ID:	432084It is a bit like watching science in action. We cruised very slowly as we had a day up our sleeves from escaping some bad weather further north.

              Awesome images Hans!

The wake patterns are beautiful, (maybe the whites are a bit blown in the last one, but it is a bright white environment)

I'm also reluctant to go on a cruise (sea sickness for one - but maybe there are drugs for that)

Ha ha . There are are drugs for everything Alan. I don't recall seeing anyone green around the gills on my three Ocean cruises. The ships are very big these days. I have been seasick so I know and understand your fears.
