  • Thought I'd share some "outback roads" with you all

    G'day all

Thought I'd share a few "roads to somewhere" with you ... places that have caught my eye over the past year or two

    a) Black Range going towards Marble Bar, WA

    b) The "Darling River Run" ... 300km of dirt road from Wilcannia to Bourke, NSW

    c) an outback farm road, northern NSW hinterland

    d) "One-Tree Hill" on the Tambo to Springsure road, inland QLD

    As always, feedback welcome
    Phil

    Beautiful images Phil.

    a) I like the colours in the road and hills and the way the road curves into the picture.

    b) This doesn't appeal to me as much as the others. It doesn't have the strong foreground or background features of the others and looks a bit flat. I like your placement of the road and the animal though.

    c) The mist in the distance and the fairly muted foreground colours give this a nice mood.

    d) I like the contrast in colour between the land and sky and the way the road curves into the distance. I like your placement of the road and that lonely tree on the horizon.

All great panos Phil. I love the vivid colours in the first one and like the way you captured the fog in the third.

Thanks everyone - and yes some panos are more exciting than others. I also use them as page headers on the regular newsletters I create for family & friends

a for me Phil. Fantastic. Leading lines, foreground and background spot on.

b seems a little flat with the road not doing much and the lone cow not doing much.

c I really like too and captures this area well I think.

d is good too. The clouds add to it. Maybe a little extra elevation would have allowed the eye to follow the road better.

In defence of image "b" that's pretty much all you're going to see in that part of Western N.S.W. Dead flat, dust and goats, lots and lots of goats.
Sometimes a panorama is what it is and you can't pretty it up.

I disagree John, things can always be "Prettied up" so to speak.

It wasn't an attack, so no defence needed. Just my opinion.
I got back from a Darling River Run 2 days ago so I have a pretty decent idea what's out there.
Also been through the other 3 places and a and c in particular capture those beautifully.

I didn't mean to sound defensive Toddy and I know it wasn't an attack on the image. I agree with you that the other images have more to offer, but to really appreciate the extraordinary you have first look at the ordinary.
