  • Gibson Steps

This is a location that I've always wanted to photograph so on a recent stay near Geelong I made the 2 hour plus journey to the "steps". The weather when I set out was not great and it went downhill as the day wore on. When I finally got to the steps it was plowing a gale and the threat of rain was looming. I only spent a short time taking photos then packed up and left. I followed The Great Ocean Road back to where I was staying and the weather was so bad I was not tempted to stop anywhere along the way.

Beautiful area. Quite a bit of drama in the sky as well. Nice shot.

Thanks for the kind words David. It started bucketing down not long after I got back to the car.

All great shots John. Shame about the crappy weather. Looks like a place you could spend a lot of time at with the camera. I only have The first one thought about your first image, perhaps a bit of work on the clouds to give them a bit of drama? I have an action that takes care of that if you want to try it HERE.

I can't see the Lions losing at home. I think Carlton have mad a big mistake in playing McKay - he'[s a shocking kick for goal and it may be their undoing. Pies were lucky to get there last night. Low scoring arm wrestle. I saw 2 obvious high tackles on Toby Greene that were ignored by the umps, which if paid, may have been a different result.

I agree with you about the high tackles Greg, there were a couple laid on Collingwood players that were not paid also. I reckon that tackle on Mihocek late in the first 1/4 was a sling tackle and should have been paid a free. Anyway, we will have to play a lot better than that no matter who we meet next Saturday if we want to hold the cup at the end of the game.

I think that one was a 50/50 call, I didn't think Mihocek was hurt at all so maybe that's why the ump called for a ball up. 1/2 time at the Gabba, I think a Pies - Lions GF. I'll post a couple of screen shots from the MCG.

      G'day GJ

Also been there - weather sounds just like wot-I-got too
I like the 2-1/2 sec exposure sweep of the waters - well done

Very nice shot considering the conditions John. We had better weather when we were there but my wife wouldn't tackle the steps and stayed at the top.

They are pretty steep, I was gasping when I got to the top.

Yes, me too, but they're not as long as the steps to Wreck Beach in Victoria, where there are about 350 steps.
