  • Wind farm on the hill tops

    G'day all

This wind farm north of Canberra has been with us for several decades and is well known to travellers
It has 70 turbines and offers power to 70,000 homes and farms across the district

We have come a long way in recent times Phil. They are a thing of beauty and look so majestic. They seem to enhance our unique and wonderful landscape which many seem to find appealing and some don't. It's such a shame that they kill so many birds and bats. Still a lovely photo though, I'd give it a bit of a contrast and colour boost

I just fired myself from cleaning my house.
I don't like my attitude and I caught myself drinking on the job.

Nice pano Phil, they look rather picturesque. Some people object strongly to them, and siting can be problematical but they are more pleasant to look at then coal mines.

        Thanks fellas
Isac ... Greg-sadly animals get killed by all of our modern devices - cars especially
wigz ... Alan- we've been to coal mines and rail facilities and they're noisy and gritty places (even while in the Toyo tour bus) and onto farms where these wind pylons exist. I have touched the tower on more than one occasion while the blades are 'swooshing' overhead, and the sheep or cattle are peacefully grazing alongside us.

In the motorhome we found many yrs ago that to sleep overnight in the visitor viewing area car park gives a very peaceful night's sleep
