  • The Old River Red-gum tree

    G'day all

Along most of Aussie's riverbanks are these delightful trees. They have a stately appearance about them as they "hang around" the riverbank seeling water from below and providing shelter for many animals

    As always, feedback welcome

A beautiful example of these wonderful trees Phil. I like the way the sun on the leaves makes them stand out from the background. Looks like some blown highlights on the horizontal branch.

      Hi Alan

My original exposure was with -0,7EV to darken the background + bring out the leaves, but blown hi-lites are something that my little camera/ sensor has a hard time trying to overcome

I still struggle with blown highlights occasionally even with my heavy, bulky, full-frame camera with excellent dynamic range. Light coloured tree branches, in particular, are often a problem.

Nice looking tree and nice shot Phil.

Fabulous shot Phil. Subject, colours, framing and lighting all spot on.

I just fired myself from cleaning my house.
I don't like my attitude and I caught myself drinking on the job.
