  • Find the fish

Some species are extremely well disguised. These fellows are quite small at about 40mm long and are easily confused with the backgrounds in which they live. Both carry toxic spines on their backs as a secondary defence and I've felt the consequences of putting my hand down on them on a couple of occasions.

They blend in extremely well. I'm guessing where the one in the second photo is. I'm not quite certain if I'm looking at a fish or not.

Thanks Kevin. No the stone fish is a different family and thankfully we don't come across them very often here. The little fellows in my pics are from the Scorpion fish family and while they are poisonous, I don't know of any fatalities from being spiked!
