The red certainly comes thru nicely ... but on my monitor, the shadows underneath seem to be in trouble - with [i'm lost for the best words] an apparent transparent-reversal of tones a bit like solarisation

Thanks for that Phil. This version is a bit lighter. The shadows you see are actually the leaves under the cluster of roses and I can see what you mean on how they have that unusual tone.
