Pond life waking up (7'C)

I usually take a close look at one of our ponds at the Hendy Nature Trail.

Winter temps are down to 7'C during the day at the mo, but when the sun shines, I look closely for water life.

So I was pleasantly surprised to see a Water Beetle on the surface, warming up.

Not really a macro, but a close-up with my 420mm 2X crop lens...

Rather different Mark. Good to see you out and about in that freezing weather. It's a mild 38 degrees here right now, was over 40 and it's almost 6PM.
We have friends coming from the UK next week so I think they will be spending a bit of time in the pool!!
