  • Big Red Bucket

One of the most iconic things about my town is the "Red Bucket", An old dragline bucket that has been painted up as a photographic landmark.
It recently had a repaint restoration with the artwork commissioned by the local Traditional Owners, the Barada Barna People.
While I was out birding today, I took some photos of the bucket, but the reflected sunlight was too harsh to edit out. So I decided to try for a subtle nighttime shot.

For this photo, I used my 2x LED 20" light bars inside the bucket set to red to fill the inside light and cut down on the shadow cast by the flood light. I used my Godox V1Pro for a little splash light on the outside of the RH side of the bucket, where there was some shadow.

A little bit of burning to dull down some background features that were distracting, and fill the sky with a starscape sky preset and this is the end result.

Very colourful greeting when you arrive in Moronbah. Very good editing to create that night scene. Hint: try straightening the sign a tad as that was the first thing that I found distracting.

I just tried to align the sign vertically, but it throws out the entire composition of the road and bucket. I'll have another try and just isolate the sign

Isolating the sign is the best way.

Couldn't miss that! Though I must have.
