  • Focus Stack Dozer

I took the opportunity at work today to try a little focus stacking on my phone. I took multiple photos using different focus points selected on the dozer and stacked them just now in Affinity Photo.
Not bad for a phone job, next time I try a focus stack, I'll use the big camera and tripod.

Something I have not had a go at yet. Would be handy to those who think most of your pictures need to be shot at bigger than F2

I like the viewpoint - it looks quite dramatic, and the light is nice.

I do wonder how many shots you needed with the large depth of file provided by the phone.

I set up with the phone zoom at 0.5 so it gives a slight fisheye effect. I think I ended up taking about 7-8 photos, just with the focus points on various spots over the dozer to try and get a uniform focus all over once they were stacked together.
If I were to recreate it with the 5D, I would do much the same using my 17mm lens and a tripod so that the ground areas remain stable. If you look closely, you can see a little hazing of the gravel in the background from the ever-so-slight phone movement when taking shots that got mixed in the stacking.

      Hi Joey

An excellent end result, no matter how it was done !

Great result. Do I need to throw my DSLR in the bin?

I just fired myself from cleaning my house.
I don't like my attitude and I caught myself drinking on the job.
