  • Playing around with Yinka

Several years ago I was fortunate enough to score a free entry to a lighting workshop. This is one of the images I captured, her name is Yinka, I have put up some images of her previously.
Tonight I thought I'd have a play around with various Topaz and NIK effects.

They are all pretty cool. Just a hint - making the image brighter might give the effects software more to work with and lift the details in the shadows.
Here's what I did in Camera Raw:

      CS6 - Top menu: IMAGE > CALCULATIONS...
Best to put it on a new layer when you've done it. On the new Alpha-1 channel in the Channels Palette, Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C.
Then back in the Layers Palette, make a new layer and paste it with Ctrl+V.

I loved this image the first time you posted. It's a fabulous shot and is fantastic for doing fun stuff with. I've had some fun using my swirls action.

I just had a play with the Calculations method, very cool. Do you always use the Red & Blue channels?

No hard and fast rule John. I play with them all and also the blend modes. The blend mode is working only on the top colour.
