Lots of great images Phil. You certainly did a lot better with that Fuji S-5000 than I did with my first digital camera - a Canon 4MP point and shoot in 2003. I just found it frustrating after a while, although I got a few decent shots. When I got my first DSLR at the end of 2006, I found it much more satisfying.

          Thanks Alan

When I was seeking a digital camera, I had 3 in the camera shop to play with over the hour or so that I was there. I selected the Fuji as it 'felt right in my fingers' even though all 3 cameras had the same basic specs. Funnily enough, it also came with a screw-on-to-the-body tube to allow filters to be used plus it was a useful lens hood arrangement.

The Fuji did 96,000 images during its life and finally the on-off switch started to misbehave - so ..... Years later after the fuji had gone-to-god I bought a Canon over the internet and hated it from the beginning. Its main settings dial on the rear panel was a rotary device - press-in at top/bottom/left/right for the usual things, but you needed to rotate it to alter the numbers being displayed. If I accidentally pressed while rotating, off it went into a different menu and it was lots of finger-pokin' to get back to where I wanted to be. I sold it at 1/2-price within 2-3 months of buying it ... and went to the Panny cameras
