  • Central Qld Mountains

Just a few of the former volcanic mountains up here in Central Qld. This was from my first outing with my new 5D, giving it a test run with the 24-105mm lens playing with settings etc.
The editing was done in Affinity Photo2, which I'm still a noob at using to edit photos, so they may come across as a bit "rich" in the editing. But this is all part of the learning curve of a new hobby.

Good colour in #1 and #3, Joey, in what looks like morning or afternoon light that helps bring out colour and texture. The mountains in #2 have a blue tone due, I think, to being more shaded from direct sun, and also distance.

#3 also seems to have a bit of a tilt which is easily corrected.

Thanks, still learning a lot about the editing side of things. The twin mountain picture was a fair distance away and was taken at 105mm zoom, hence the bit of distance haze.
Yeah, I , missed fixing the tilt on 3 when I converted it from RAW.

I went mountain climbing today up the #2 mountain, soI have a ton more photos to spend tomorrow editing

The first few edits from today's hike up the mountain..

The late afternoon sunset on Mt Pollux (the larger one) and the smaller, unnamed one that I climbed today

I was greeted by this lovely pastal sunset on the 4Km walk back to the car

Another angle of the above Fletcher's Awl peak. This was taken at 250mm from the top of the peak I was on

I setup the tripod and took a series of portrait shots and stitched them together using the panao feature in Affinity Photo.

This is another 250mm photo of Wolfang Peak in the distance.

          G'day Joey

As to your first bunch of pics - I enjoy a bit of colour in my images, so a bit of saturation is okay to me

Isac ... Joey's images do not look as sharp as others here ... can you see what's going on and then Joey can give us some 'real-beauties' to sqwiz at

Hi Joey, The best and easiest method to post images in your threads is using the Drag and Drop method.
Check out the various methods available on the top menu "Uploading Images". JPG format is best for forums.
            ----------------------------------------------------------
            AUSPH image sizes for posting:
Maximum pixels on the longest side = 1200
            Maximum image size 300kb
Posting images greater than above will either be rejected OR vBulletin will resize them to allow posting and this will affect the image quality.
            ----------------------------------------------------------

Affinity Photo does not have a direct "Save for Web" feature like Photoshop, but you can export images for web use by using the File > Export option or the Export Persona for more specific tasks. This allows you to optimize images by adjusting size and format, although it may not remove metadata as effectively as Photoshop's feature.

Hi Phil, I directed Joey to the "Uploading Images" on the top menu, so he can optimize his image quality for the forum.

Hi Joey, if you want a good image resizer, try Fotosizer, it's brilliant. https://www.fotosizer.com
If you want my settings, let me know.

These all look very good Joey. The branch of leaves on the right of the Mt Pollux image are a bit distracting and I would be inclined to clone them out. An alternative is to take a slightly wider shot and frame the mountain with trees or include some foreground - it makes a more interesting composition.

The panorama is displaying due to a 'Bandwidth exceeded' message but I followed the link to ImageBB. A nice image but the foregound shadow is a bit of a distraction.

Yep, sometimes you have no good option. Photoshop can fill it for you but that does introduce some ethical images - and the cost of software.

That's why I chose Affinity over PS/LR as it's a buy once, cry once compared to the ridiculous monthly subscription that Adobe wants

Actually with the previous price the package was good value as you always have the latest version for the price of a couple of cups of coffee each month. For new subscribers it’s now double the price and harder to justify, but includes 1TB cloud storage.

Looks good - a much better size too, although I'd prefer seeing larger sizes to properly appreciate images, but we make do within the limits of the forum.
